The benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) closed Thursday’s trading session down by 78.56 points or 0.89 percent to 8,733.79, after being low as much as 136.26 points just before the closing bell.

On an YTD basis, the TASI has accumulated exactly four hundred points.

The market cap indices all finished to the downside, with Micro cap falling 1.9 percent, the GulfBase said in its market commentary.

Only Agriculture and Media sectors showed a positive change among sectoral indices, gaining 82 points jointly. Remaining 13 sectors ended in the downward territory, trimming an aggregate of 1,553 points.

Transport sector posted the largest losses, shedding 271.2 points or 3.19 percent to close at 8,231.23. Telecommunication & Information Technology sector followed it, going down by 2.84 percent.

The heavyweight Saudi Telecom Co. suffered worst and dipped 2.86 percent, closing at SR61.84. National Commercial Bank depreciated by 1.53 percent.

Only Jabal Omar and Kingdom Holding Co. edged higher, growing 0.8 percent and 0.6 percent respectively.

The market breadth was in favor of bears as out of 162 stocks only 24 managed to close up on Thursday.

Buruj Cooperative Insurance came out as key gainer among all Saudi stocks, achieving a growth of 9.87 percent to close the day at SR32.5.

Amana Cooperative Insurance, on the other hand, recorded the biggest losses, slipping 6.8 percent for the day.

Tadawul volume went up by two percent and traded 258.8 million shares as compared to previous day’s 253.6 million shares. Roughly SR7 billion pumped into the market, an increase of ten percent.

Dar Al-Arkan Real Estate continued to dominate the trading activity, liquidating over 33.7 million shares, which equates 13 percent of the overall market volume.

National Agriculture Marketing Co. volume went 10 times high over its 50-day average but the company closed down by 5.76 percent.
