Saudi Arabia’s benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) dug in at 9,614.61 and ended its Thursday’s trading up over 42 points or 0.44 percent.

It went 45.8 points above and 25.4 points below the break-even line during the day, the GulfBase said in its market commentary.

On an YTD basis, TASI registered a positive return of 15.38 percent.

Micro cap with 0.75 percent upward jump remained prominent among market cap indices. Most of the major sector indices finished to the upside, accumulating an aggregate of 634 points.

Transport outperformed among the sectoral indices, surging 3.26 percent to 9,858.09. Petrochemical Industries sector added considerable 1.22 percent to close at 6,475.99 points.

Samba Financial Group and Kingdom Holding came out as significant players among heavyweights, offsetting their performance by one percent positive-negative change.

The bellwether SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) rose 0.76 percent, closing at SR96.87. Market breadth was positive, whereby 89 symbols closed in green and 42 closed in red, while 30 remained unchanged.

Ash-Sharqiyah Development Company and Saudi International Petrochemical Co. topped the performance chart at Tadawul, posting a daily growth of 6.72 percent and 5.0 percent respectively.

SIPCHEM’s shares climbed to a fresh 13-week high on Thursday.

Tadawul volume went down by 22 percent and traded 296.9 million shares as compared to previous day’s 380.4 million shares. Roughly SR10 billion poured into the market.

The 50-day average for trading turnover is closer to 333 million shares worth SR8.9 billion.

Mobile Telecommunications Company (ZAIN) appeared to be the most active stock of the day, liquidating 32.7 million shares, which equates 11 percent of overall market volume.

Saudi Arabia Fertilizers Co. (SAFCO) pumping a liquidity of SR 2.4 billion topped the value chart, a relative market share of 23.1 percent.

Interestingly, SAFCO volume went 88 times high over its 50-day average, liquidating more than twenty million shares.
