Al Nahdi Medical Company (NMC), claimed to be the largest pharmaceutical chain in the MENA, recently participated at the Diabetes Innovation Summit 2013 that was organized by the Joslin Diabetes Center in Washington DC.

The company took part with a group of prominent experts and doctors in the field of diabetes and major medical companies and institutions in the world.

They asserted the leading role of NMC in community service, and keenness to provide the best pharmaceutical services for patients with diabetes in the Kingdom.

Dr. Bandar Hamooh, CEO of NMC, presented at the summit the company’s approach to the matter under the umbrella of “the new reality of social responsibility for diabetes and a shift toward a community centric model,” showcasing the company’s efforts in spreading awareness on the disease, providing unique pharmaceutical services to its customers and providing counseling and guidance to those who suffer from the disease in the Kingdom.

Dr. Hamooh reaffirmed NMC’s support to diabetic patients through its CSR program and role in providing the best and finest services to the individual and society in all respects relating to health and wellness, child care, everyday care and beauty, considering that Nahdi is the largest chain of pharmacies that sells and distributes medicines, children accessories and medical equipment in the MENA.

Dr. Hamooh gave recent statistics to explain how the Kingdom is ranked 3rd in the list of top 10 countries with population percentages possessing diabetes, at approximately 28 percent.

This calls for immediate action through various means and measures to prevent the spread of the disease among the community.

He mentioned to the shift at NMC from a traditional pharmacy to a community centric one, delivering health care consultancy, medication, cooperation between the pharmacist and patient in educating on diabetes, allowing the company to become an essential part of an integrated healthcare system in Saudi Arabia.
