EMC, a provider of IT storage hardware solutions to promote data backup and recovery and accelerate the journey to cloud computing, on Monday came up with solutions to the often complex IT deployments in the public sector to address challenges unique to this sector.

Addressing a press conference here Kamal Othman, EMC's regional sales director for public sector said: "In recent months, the government of Saudi Arabia continued to invest aggressively in IT in a bid to efficiently deliver smart government services, and boost healthy economic diversification to drive both social and human capital development across the Kingdom."

Citing statistics, he said according to IDC’s Saudi Arabia vertical markets 2013-2017, IT spending forecast, IT spending in the Kingdom is set to increase 10.7 percent year on year in 2014 to total $11.50 billion, with the government sector predicted to be the fastest growing vertical with IT investment reporting CAGR of 12.9 percent through 2017.

In this context, EMC demonstrated its expertise aimed at simplifying the understanding and application of the latest technologies to help redefine the future of the Kingdom’s public sector services, the top executive of the American multinational said.

He added that in line with its commitment to contribute to the ongoing developments in the Kingdom, EMC hosted the second edition of its Arabic public sector mega workshop to showcase latest technologies and discuss how they can help redefine the future of public services and national administration.

The workshop highlighted how IT teams can effectively optimize their virtual desktop environments with flash technologies to leverage quick automation and maximize the utilization of resources to accelerate workflows and delivery of public services.
