Emirates will recommence passenger flights to Baghdad from Sept. 17. The airline suspended operations in January of this year.

Emirates will operate with four weekly flights to Baghdad, served by an A330-200 aircraft in a three class configuration.

Sheikh Majid Al-Mualla, divisional SVP, commercial operations, Centre for Emirates, said: “After conducting an exhaustive safety and security review, we have decided to restart services between Dubai and Baghdad. Commercial air transport has been one of the cornerstones of economic development for Iraq and we want to continue to support the development of economic opportunities in Baghdad by increasing access to international markets and inward investment.”

Emirates services to Baghdad from Sept. 17 to Oct. 23 will depart as EK 941/942 on Monday and Thursday from Dubai and EK 943/944 will operate on Friday and Sunday.

EK 941 will depart Dubai at 7:15 a.m. arriving in Baghdad International Airport at 8:50 a.m. The return flight, EK 942 will depart Baghdad International Airport at 10:40 a.m. arriving in Dubai at 2 p.m. EK 943 will depart Dubai at 12:35 p.m. arriving at Baghdad International Airport at 2:20 p.m. The return flight, EK 944 will depart Baghdad International Airport at 3:55 p.m. arriving in Dubai at 7:15 p.m.

Timings will change from Oct. 25. However, Emirates services to Baghdad will continue to depart as EK 941/942 on Monday and Thursday from Dubai and EK 943/944 will operate on Friday and Sunday.

EK 941 will depart Dubai at 7.55 a.m. arriving in Baghdad International Airport at 9.40 a.m. The return flight, EK 942 will depart Baghdad International Airport at 11.35 a.m. arriving in Dubai at 2.50 p.m. EK 943 will depart Dubai at 12:30 p.m. arriving in Baghdad International Airport at 2:15 p.m.. The return flight, EK 944 will depart Baghdad International Airport at 3:45 p.m. arriving in Dubai at 7:10 p.m.

Baghdad has been part of Emirates’ route network since 2011. The airline operates four weekly services to Erbil and a double daily service to Basra.
