Waleed Mohammed Al-Shaikh has become a member of the Tourist Information Committee at the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC).

The appointment comes in appreciation of his skills and experience.

He spent 20 years in different industries before moving to NAS.

His expertise added value to NAS and the tourism industry.

Commenting on his selection, Al-Shaikh said: “I feel proud and honored as a Saudi national to be chosen by a professional committee to serve the nation. This very important aspect — tourism — has a bright future with all of us supporting its objectives.”

Al-Shaikh joined NAS in November 2008 as the marketing and communications director for the group and supervising all 4 sub-brands: nasair, the first Saudi budget airline; NasJet, the ME private aviation company; NASTech, the engineering and maintenance arm of the group; and NAS Charter Aviation, the specialized Haj and Umrah air transportation company.

After graduating in 1991 from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals with a degree in marketing, Al-Shaikh joined Saudi Aramco International Marketing & Sales Division where he was introduced to the real world of international business.

Two years later, he went through another rewarding experience with the banking industry when he worked for four years as the communication coach to Albaraka Investment Group.

He also worked for the Saudi Telecom (STC) as head of advertising and publicity and coordinator for corporate re-branding project to prepare STC for the IPO.

He was later appointed as director of change and communications.

Before leaving STC, he was appointed director of marketing communication responsible for what was considered to be the biggest advertising budget in the Middle East in addition to launching STC’s new brand.
