The Saudi Ministry of Health has signed an MoU with Lifebuoy, one of the brands under Binzagr Unilever Limited’s portfolio. The MoU will see the two organizations collaborate on raising awareness about health issues in the community, and the means of addressing them. The MoU was announced at a ceremony held on Sunday at the Jeddah Health Department.
The MoU is in line with the mission of the Saudi Ministry of Health to give all nationals and residents the right of access to full health services. It also supports the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan in the region, which calls for growing Unilever’s business while decoupling its environmental footprint from growth, and increasing the company’s positive social impact. The terms of the agreement see Lifebuoy join the Saudi Ministry of Health to design training materials for a program targeting infectious diseases in public hospitals.
The ministry will also actively endorse a digital campaign on hand hygiene developed by Lifebuoy, and support a large campaign improving the health and well-being of pilgrims coming to Saudi Arabia’s holy cities.
Ministry of Health representatives will join Lifebuoy teams on school, hospital and mall visits to engage the community with messages of health and hygiene.
Isam Badwailan, brand protection director, Binzagr Unilever Limited/Lifebuoy, said: “Positively impacting the health and well-being of our people is built into our corporate DNA. It is a formal part of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, and also a key element of the Lifebuoy brand identity. We are delighted to have achieved the support of the Saudi Ministry of Health in taking our campaigns on health and the importance of handwashing in stemming the spread of disease, to wider audiences Kingdom-wide.”
Binzagr Unilever won the King Khalid Award for Sustainability Initiatives in 2015 and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Excellence Award in 2017.
