Siemens, a global powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering operating in the energy, infrastructure, industry and health care sectors, is showcasing at Saudi Health 2013 the latest cutting-edge technologies and solutions that address the key health care challenges in the Kingdom.

Siemens Healthcare’s commitment to the Kingdom through innovations, services, and the development of a comprehensive workforce of locally trained professionals will support Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health in overcoming issues concerning women’s health, oncology, cardiovascular care, and knowledge transfer in the Middle East region’s largest economy.

Highlights at the exhibition include the Somatom Definition Flash, a faster and safer CT scanner, capable of capturing the smallest details with radiation dosage levels up to forty times lower than required in conventional CT devices.

In diagnosing heart disease, the system is the first to capture the entire organ within a quarter of a second, or half a heartbeat, and is especially important in scanning children, the elderly, and intensive care patients.

The health care market in the Gulf Co-Operation Council Countries (GCC) is forecast to grow at a rate of 11 percent annually to $ 43.9 billion by 2015 from $ 25.6 billion in 2010, according to a report on the sector by Alpen Capital.

Saudi Arabia is expected to remain the largest market in the region and the fastest-growing alongside the UAE, the report said.
