Featuring four-times the resolution of full high definition and powerful sound, Sony has announced the expansion of 4K TV line-up with the launch of the 65-inch and 55-inch screen sizes in the Kingdom.
Speaking at the launch, Prince Muhammad bin Khalid Alabdullah Alfaisal, president and CEO of Al-Faisaliah Group, said: “Sony delivers the most immersive home entertainment experience, with the highest picture quality.”
He said: “Last year we Sony introduced the first 84-inch 4K LED TV in the Kingdom and it was very successful. Sony provides a far more natural and vivid viewing experience with a heightened sense of depth.”
Prince Khaled said: “Saudi Arabia is always willing to adopt new technologies, according to this the sales of new smart phones and television is more than 60 percent in the Kingdom.”
Hiroyasu Sugiyama, managing director of Sony in Middle East and Africa, said: “We sold the largest number of 84-inch 4K televisions in the world outside of Japan. Saudi Arabia was one of the key contributors to this record sale. I would like to thank all our customers for this.”
He added: “While sales greatly exceeded our expectations, we realize that an 84-inch television is not for everyone. We would like to extend the joy of owning this amazing Sony 4K experience to a much wider range of customers. We are tremendously excited to introduce the new 65-inch and 55-inch Sony 4K LED televisions that will deliver the stunning 4K viewing experience at a more accessible price point.”
He said: “This engine is capable of reproducing any content with different resolutions, such as movies, Internet content, photographs and games, into stunningly crisp, high-quality images with 4K resolution, allowing consumers to watch 4K content anytime.”
He said that any currently available content such as movies, TV programs, photos and games could be up-scaled to beautiful 4K picture quality by Sony’s proprietary ‘4K X-Reality Pro’ high picture quality engine.
This deploys picture enhancement chips that can upscale any 2K content like Blu-Ray or DVD to 4K.
“The up-scaling capability of the BRAVIA 4K TV is a first-of-its-kind in the industry and a unique customer benefit from Sony,” he said.
Along with offering its best-ever picture quality, “the Bravia X series TVs also offer a better sound experience by incorporating an end-to-end Sony audio solution. Utilizing a Signal-to-Sound Architecture, these TVs incorporate Sony’s own magnetic fluid speakers and unique digital signal processing technology to deliver smooth midrange, lower vibration and deep bass.”
To further enhance the enjoyment of beautiful, fully immersive picture and sound, the BRAVIA X series are Wi-Fi enabled and offer a wide range of Internet connected services including Sony’s smart connect solutions, enabling cross-device connectivity between mobile devices and their TV.
In addition, smart connect features such as One-touch mirroring provides greater control and additional content options by interconnecting media sources across the home and mobile entertainment ecosystem.
The new line-up of Sony 4K LED TVs in 55-inch and 65-inch screen sizes will be retailed in the Kingdom from 30 June.
