The fourth interior design and furniture expo Decofair showcased many budding interior designers. The four-day event, which is held annually, finished on Thursday in Jeddah.
Over 100 local and international designers and exhibitors bedazzled the large crowd with their examples of interior design. Decofair featured ravishing furniture pieces from countries including Turkey, German, Italy and Lebanon.
“The main objective of the Decofair expo is to put together all the furniture and the interior designers’ works,” said Mohamed Ahmed Al-Dahshan, who works for Reed Sunaidi Exhibitions, the organizers of Decofair.
Al-Dahshan mentioned that many people in Saudi Arabia, nowadays, are looking for job opportunities in the interior design field.
“The Decofair exhibition drew pioneer furniture and interior design companies based in the Kingdom, as well as the most important international brands,” said Al-Dahshan.
Stall displays varied from furniture, carpets, curtains, paintings, home accessories, landscaping and more, giving the visitors an array of things to choose from.
“We attend this expo to let people know about IDdesign in Jeddah, the official sponsor of Decofair,” said Tony Sabra, Retail Country Manager at IDdesign. “We want to let people know that we have an interior design department and we take up several projects.”
I had expected to see a large crowd at the exhibition, but perhaps because I attended the exhibition in the afternoon, the space looked as if it was desperately in need of visitors.
But in terms of winning my love for interior designing, Decofair has done a marvelous job, bringing all interior designers to one place.
Attending the expo even got me thinking about trying a hand at interior designing. I had almost planned the interior of my future home and I had ideas for extra rooms. Antique furniture pieces, sophisticated fabric, colorful details, and trendy designs. It felt all expensive and posh! And so it should be. In a country like Saudi Arabia, you just can’t afford to be a minimalist.
