The Ninth Mango and Tropical Fruits Festival currently under way at the Kadi Commerial Mall in Jazan has seen a large turnout of visitors.

Farmers have showcased a variety of mangoes produced in their own farms. The most popular varieties of local mangoes include Tommy, Jal Al-Jalin, Zabdah, Abu Sanara, Kent, Keith, Balmar, Sensation, Pakistani, Indian Special, Al-Fao Al-Zal, Fandaki and Sudani.

Visitors view the occasion as a rare opportunity to try and buy local mango produce and other fruit at affordable prices.

Children and women visitors can also enjoy cultural programs such as dramas, songs and folk games presented on the sidelines of the show.

There is also a special section at the expo reserved for productive families who showcase heritage products, clay works and women’s beauty articles manufactured by them. Participants in this section are women who benefit from the support of the Jazan Productive Family Project, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday.

The exhibition, which is organized under the aegis of Jazan Governor Prince Muhammad bin Nasser, aims to familiarize and promote farmed products from the province. Provincial authorities also strive to promote products through a number of selling points in different parts of the Kingdom.

The nine-day festival was inaugurated by the prince on Tuesday.
