Life is precious

Life is precious

This refers to the report “90% of traffic violators are Saudis.” (July 27)

Hiding the number plate for Saher should come under criminal act as this may lead to any crime and also the people will not be able to note down the number of the car in any incidents. They play and disturb other drivers on the highways and streets and no one can complain against them.

And it happens in all checkpoints, just 500 meters before and after the checkpoints we see the young men playing with the number plates. It’s just a child’s play for them. The traffic authorities should launch a campaign against this to curb these partly criminal acts.

Also, as reported, the offenders in such cases are mostly in the bracket of 20-40 years of age group. Mostly young, they are quite impatient while driving, trying to reach their destinations fast.

But it is not a sensible idea to put at risk one’s own life, which is precious.

I think besides stipulating punishments to those who engage in reckless driving, which is already in place there, there is need on persistent basis to educate the youth on traffic discipline. — Seraj Ahmad, Alkhobar
