SCTA signs training agreement

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) has signed an agreement with Dar Al-Uloom University to train Saudis for the tourism industry.
SCTA President Prince Sultan bin Salman and chairman of the university’s board of trustees Abdul Aziz Al-Tuwaijiri signed the agreement at the university in Riyadh on Tuesday. The ceremony took place on the sidelines of the World Heritage Day celebrations held at the university.
The focus of the agreement is broad cooperation between the two parties to train Saudis to handle media and public relations, organize various exhibitions and develop and staff cultural and heritage locations. The SCTA and the university will also conduct joint field surveys to document urban heritage locations, buildings and tourist spots in Riyadh province.
The university will also offer specialized studies on heritage at bachelor and postgraduate levels.
The agreement comes amid SCTA efforts to sign cooperation agreements with various agencies in the private and public sectors to promote national tourism. The major goals of the tourism strategy are to nationalize the tourism sector, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday.
