The Lawyers’ Committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has called for technical education and vocational training for lawyers.
The committee said the initiative would eliminate the issue of attorneys not possessing a formal education.
The committee members asked the authorities that certificates should not be issued to unqualified lawyers.
Yaseen Khalid Khayyat, president of the GCC Commercial Arbitration Center, said the center will cooperate with Jeddah Chamber to stop violations.
“We will carry out an awareness campaign in this regard and introduce different programs to make sure lawyers will undergo vocational training before getting certificates, which will be issued officially by accredited training centers only,” he said.
Khayyat stressed the need to regulate training courses by professional lawyers, advocates and experts who are working in different firms and providing legal services. The new lawyers should take services and training to legalize their certificates, he said.
“The Lawyers’ Committee in Jeddah is working for the development of expertise. It is doing its best to provide legal job opportunities to Saudi lawyers,” Khayyat said.
Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Essa, Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, called for respecting the law, commitment to ethical standards, assets and norms.
Al-Essa said one of the most important goals of the training program is to develop the professional capabilities of lawyers.
