ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy ships Shamsheer and Azmat and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) patrol vessel Kolachi visited the Abu Dhabi port in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and participated in a joint exercise, the Pakistan Navy said on Saturday.
Pakistan and UAE navies have maintained close relations over the decades and collaborate with each other in training exercises, provision of manpower and port visits by fleet units in line with their long-standing traditions.
Upon reaching the Abu Dhabi port, the Pakistan Navy mission commander and commanding officers held important meetings with the UAE Navy and Coast Guard commanders, and other military officials, the Pakistan Navy said in a statement.
“During the meetings, professional matters of mutual interest and further enhancement of bilateral maritime cooperation were discussed,” the statement read.
“Pakistani ships also took part in a joint exercise with the UAE Navy and the visit of Pakistani ships will further enhance the existing ties between the two brotherly countries.”
In February, a Pakistan Navy flotilla, comprising TARIQ and HIMMAT navy ships, visited Abu Dhabi to participate in the International Defense Exhibition.
