Police say insurgents attacked a group of soldiers as they were shopping in the northern town of Baramulla on Thursday, killing a soldier and a civilian and injuring three others.
They say another group of rebels later tossed a grenade at a paramilitary bunker in Srinagar, the region’s main city. However, it exploded on the side of the road, wounding eight pedestrians, two critically.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Rebel groups have been fighting against Indian rule in Kashmir since 1989. At least 68,000 people have been killed in the conflict.
