I read with interest the article “The flip side of activism” (Aug. 30) by Ramzy Baroud. The writer has raised an important issue. I do endorse the views he has expressed in his article. With the advent of social media, the trend of online activism has gained popularity. People think that by taking such photographs, they are doing something noble. Taking photographs of Syrians and asking them to make different poses for the photo-op is very cruel. People should avoid belittling the plight of others.
The entire world knows the problem the Syrians are facing for the last five years. We need to do more to address the issue. — Taha Majeed, Jeddah
