Kejriwal is not just back. He is back roaring louder than a lion. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is dumbstruck.

The massive mandate has announced that Modi’s ‘vikas’ (development) plank is in fact vikas of the corporate, comprising only selected friends. Instead, the people of Delhi have endorsed Kejriwal’s ‘vikas’ of a common man. The Aam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal has also proved that Modi’s victory in the parliamentary elections was because Anna-Kejriwal team had decimated Congress. The people opted for Modi’s BJP, because there was no alternative.

The Delhi election is sure to have countrywide repercussions. In the next nine months, the ruling BJP will be on test — a party, which seems interested only on communal and corporate agendas. Politics of hatred may not be a winning agenda for long. For Congress, it is necessary to abandon extreme liberalism and hidden communalism if it wants to revive its lost touch with the masses.

Kejriwal also need not to repeat the mistakes he has committed in the past. He will have to give concrete shape to its ideological as well as infrastructural framework. The best thing about him is that he has earned support of all the ethnic and caste groups as also the impoverished masses and the educated middle and upper class.

This gives him a unique position, and if he chooses his issues well, he can surely usher in a new mass revolution in the country. The only challenge for him will be to keep away from the corporate agenda.

People as well as experts will debate the results for a long time. But what is clear beyond doubt is that Modi wave has ceased to remain a wave. Within a short period, it has not only become standstill but has started moving backwards.

Hopefully Delhi election results will start a new politics in India, which will be more people-centric and more secular than it has been in last several decades. Hopefully, this will signal an end to divisive politics in the country and the nation will again stand united.
