The past two years have been the most difficult in Egypt’s modern history.
Many lives have been lost and destruction has now become a common sight. Yet it is only Egyptians who are suffering.
During this ongoing unrest, Egypt and Egyptians saw many wishing to sink Egypt into the abyss. Egypt and Egyptians heard many world leaders and politicians try to draw solutions for Egypt’s stability, but many of these leaders and politicians tried to resolve things in Egypt according to their interests without regard to the Egyptians.
Many world leaders, including the American President Barak Obama, failed to influence the course of events with their uncertainty and unexplained hesitation toward events in Egypt. Indeed, Egypt and the Egyptians needed a true friend.
But, many political analysts knew where to start drawing the lines to calm things in Egypt. People around the world know that Saudi Arabia doesn’t use their leverage in the Arab or Muslim world for national gain. Saudi Arabia is known to be a key player many complicated issues. World leaders look at Saudi Arabia as the most respected power balance and a country that always seek peaceful solutions to any world issue.
For this reason, world attention has been focused on what has been said in the past few days by King Abdullah.
In his recent message, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques summed up the feelings of all Saudis over the turmoil in Egypt.
“We have been closely following the developments in our brotherly nation of Egypt. The events there are pleasing only an enemy that hates to see a stable and secure Egypt. On the other hand, it is deeply painful for all who wish to see stability and unity prevailing in Egypt,” said King Abdullah.
King Abdullah showed the world the solutions to the ongoing crisis in Egypt in a few lines.
King Abdullah exposed the real enemies of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
King Abdullah comforted the Egyptians when he said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Saudi people would stand by Egypt and the Egyptians. The whole world knows that the Saudis always stand by their words.
The Egyptians and the world have heard many political statements, but it remains apparent that Saudi statements have their weight. Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and other countries praised King Abdullah for his words of wisdom and courage and his sincere intentions to bring calm and stability to Egypt. King Abdullah had on many occasions spoken about the importance of seeing a stable Egypt.
King Abdullah’s speech was seen from many different angles. Many analysts say it was directed to western countries that stood by the Muslim Brotherhood for unknown reasons. And what is more, the speech was a warning to the many ignorant and irresponsible individuals in the Arab World who added fuel to the unrest in Egypt without any regard to the innocent lives which were lost in the unrest.
The strong statement by King Abdullah must have come as a breath of fresh air to Egyptians at a time when many Western countries have threatened Egypt with severing ties and pushing the United Nations Security Council to hold a meeting over the situation in Egypt, even though the situation remains an internal matter.
The Saudi support for Egypt and the Egyptians is not tied to any interest. King Abdullah’s statement came to the Egyptians at a time when Egypt needed true friends.
