Eleven citizens have been found guilty of hiring and harboring illegal expatriates, and face various penalties including fines, imprisonment and having their vehicles seized, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The citizens are Yahya Abdo Ibrahim Hadi Suwaidi, Eid Ahmed Ayed, Shanber Al-Shanbari, Zaher Hassan Eissa Al-Hamzein Al-Samdani, Ibrahim Rasheed Mohammed Al-Darein Al-Marhabi, Abdulkhaliq Hassan Ali Al-Abeis Al-Amrai, Ahmed Amer Ahmed Badawood, Ahmed Mattar Al-Sareehi, Maher Ahmed Bakri Rahmani, Saad Mohammed Hassan Zanbouri and Misfir bin Siraj Mahdi Al-Rasheed.

Fines range between SR20,000 and SR425,000 based on the gravity of the offense, in addition to six months in prison. The Interior and Labor Ministries and the Passport Department have called on citizens and residents to refrain from transporting, housing or providing jobs for illegal workers.

More than 800,000 illegal foreign workers were deported in 2013 after the expiry of an extended amnesty period.
