The US Embassy said on Saturday that 125 American universities would be participating in the upcoming 6th International Exhibition and Conference on Higher Education (IECHE 2015) in Riyadh.

The IECHE 2015, which will be organized from April 15 to 18, is being held under the aegis of the Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Salman, and according to the organizers, 470 universities are expected to participate in the event, 50 of which are local while 239 are from other parts of the world.

Education Minister Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil and Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, vice chancellor of Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, will deliver keynote addresses at the exhibition which is considered as one of the largest educational events in the Middle East.

Highlighting some of the features of the exhibition, Bryan Andriano, executive director of the Global Experiential Education program at George Washington University, said: “This is the fifth year our university is participating in the IECHE. The past exhibitions have yielded positive results in boosting education in the region.”

In 2010, the Ministry of Higher Education hosted the first IECHE at the Riyadh Exhibition Center with the attendance of 32 US universities.

Representatives of the participating universities would be available at information booths at the exhibition and would hold specialized information sessions and workshops for prospective students and their parents.

Advisers and experts have scheduled seven individualized workshops at IECHE, covering topics from applying to undergraduate and graduate programs, scholarship exchange programs, student visas and a round table discussions on US higher education and its ongoing collaboration with the Kingdom.

“Amreeka 101,” the 6th episode of the successful YouTube series, depicting two fictitious characters navigating their way through their studies in US, would also be premiered at the exhibition.
