MADINAH: Two teenagers drowned in the Al-Jufran Valley recently, taking the toll of those killed during the recent rain to 12, the Civil Defense in Madinah has said.

On Nov. 15, three youths drowned in the region, where heavy rain in the last two weeks created water bodies, some of which are very deep.

According to local media, the Civil Defense teams on Saturday recovered the bodies of two boys aged around 16 years and hailing from Qasiebah village, 130 km east of Madinah.

Police were alerted after the boys went missing after being seen in Al-Jufran valley. A search operation was launched and divers brought out their bodies.

Civil Defense spokesman Col. Khaled Mubarak Al-Jihani was quoted as saying that the center in the Al-Hanakia received information about the boys going missing on Saturday evening and a rescue team rushed to the valley.

“The boys were already dead. An investigation is being conducted,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Civil Defense advised people in all parts of the Kingdom to be more careful because of the changing weather conditions in all parts of the Kingdom and requested the public to follow the weather forecast issued from time to time by the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment. (PME).

According to weather forecast, another wave of bad weather is likely to affect the Kingdom from Tuesday through Friday.

Last week, several parts of the country experienced heavy thunderstorms and rains. Similar conditions are expected this week too, according to sources from the PME.
