Saudi courts received some 352 family-related complaints in the last six months, notably those concerned with khula and marriage cancellation cases, local media said.

Khula is a case where a wife asks for marriage discontinuation for many reasons, whereas adhl is where a woman is denied the right to marry by her guardians.

Khula and adhl cases reached 328, or 93 percent of all family-related lawsuits, whereas marriage cancellations for a variety of reasons comprise the remaining 7 percent, Makkah daily said quoting data released by the Ministry of Justice.

Makkah topped the Kingdom’s cities with the highest rates of adhl cases in the last six months at 28, followed by Tabuk (10), Khobar (7), and Taif (5), the paper said.

On the other hand, Ahsa topped the Kingdom’s cities with the highest rates of khula cases at 40, followed by Taif (17), and Abha and Hail (12 for each), the paper said.
