JEDDAH: A team from the Jeddah municipality and Civil Defense on Thursday removed 300 stalls and destroyed 600 tons of used clothing in Al-Sawareekh for violating safety and business regulations.

In response to complaints from stall owners that their stalls were “removed without prior warning,” the director of the media center at the Jeddah Municipality, Sami Al-Ghamdi, said that this is not the first time stalls have been removed. He said previously stalls were removed, but violations still continue, thus warranting continuous monitoring. He said those targeted in these inspection campaigns are “violations,” regardless of location, noting that several authorities are coordinating efforts in this regard.

Violations included “displaying products outside the shops or stalls, selling used clothing, and setting up random stalls that sell expired food products, of which 250 stalls and 120 tons of expired food products were removed.”
