RIYADH: The Ministry of Housing has signed a joint-cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Saudi Postal Corporation (SPC) for charitable housing development.

Housing Minister Majed Al-Hogail said that the cooperation seeks to strengthen the partnership between the parties in various sectors.

Earlier, the Housing Ministry also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for housing projects with the Ministry of Justice.

Al-Hogail said that the cooperation seeks to develop a housing system and strengthen its data accuracy, and work on the mechanism of classification of beneficiaries’ low income.

The cooperation agreement also seeks data integration and information about the target segments as well as inventory of eligible housing applicants.

These would be registered in the Kingdom’s social security system, including housing applicants’ social status, amount of monthly income and the number of individuals with special needs in the family.

“The aim of the memorandum signed with the Saudi Postal Corporation is to take advantage of the data base of the Geographical Information System (GIS) to support housing projects and initiatives,” he said.

He added that it also aims to determine the white land (vacant lot) , scope and titles to support the imposition of vacant land fee studies and link the program to the mechanism for the application of Council of Ministers Resolution 252.

Al-Hoqail noted that the cooperation includes the promotion of studies and statistics , demographic studies of population density, percentage of ownership , size of families and nationalities and data infrastructure.

The cooperation also takes advantage of the network of branches in the registration and the beneficiaries’ reception of the savings programs and product delivery.

“The cooperation also provides the foundation of the information system in the Ministry of Housing,” he said.
