The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen (AHK Saudi Arabia) was founded in 1978 by a Royal decree under the name of German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO).

GESALO is part of the German Chamber Network and the official German Foreign business promotion.

With 130 offices worldwide, the AHKs offer their experience, connections and services to German and companies of their partner countries.

GESALO is the official representative of the German economy in Saudi Arabia. AHKs are also service providers to companies under the brand “DEinternational”.

AHKs provide services to companies both from Germany and their host countries in order to support their foreign business activities.

On average, GESALO organizes 150 individual Business Partner Searches and 14 big Business Delegations from Germany annually.

This opens business opportunities to Saudi companies as well as partnerships for technology and knowledge transfer.

Numerous information events are being held by GESALO staff in Germany to promote Saudi Arabia as an investment location and advocate for technology partnerships with Saudi companies.

Andreas Hergenrother is the current delegate of the German Economy for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen.

In December 2010, the first German-Saudi Arabia Desk was established at the Bielefeld Chamber of Industry and Commerce. It serves as an information platform about Saudi Arabia for all German companies.

GESALO organized over the course of the last 5 years more than 150 business delegations, conferences and B2B-events. The number of German companies actively engaged in the Saudi Arabian market with a local partner rose from 360 to about 700.
