Air India passengers are having excruciating experiences due to delays of its flights that have seemingly become a regular feature.
The departure of another AI flight at Riyadh airport was delayed by two hours and 20 minutes. A family said that they were supposed to leave at 9:15 a.m. However, the plane they were going to travel on arrived from New Delhi at 10:48 a.m. instead of the scheduled 8 a.m.
Finally, the passengers took off at 11:35 a.m. There were several pregnant women and children affected by the delay. Air India officials blamed it on the late arrival of the plane from New Delhi.
Mohammad Rafiullah, one of the passengers, who had to catch a connecting flight to Patna, said: “Such negligence by Air India and the indifferent and callous attitude of its staff not only cause inconvenience but also mar the image of the national carrier.”
When going to New Delhi last month and returning via Mumbai, this reporter also experienced a delay. Reaching New Delhi airport, the Air India staff said the flight was delayed by an hour and would take off at 10 a.m. and reach Mumbai at 12:15 p.m.
When asked if it would create a problem because the connecting flight to Riyadh was scheduled to depart at 12:50 p.m., a staff member said: “No, it will wait.”
However, on arrival in Mumbai, an Air India staff member at the landing terminal 1A, said: “Your Riyadh flight is from terminal 2 and all of you have to take a private taxi to catch the flight.”
When asked about the airport shuttle bus service, he said: “If you wait for internal transport, you will miss the flight and Air India will not be responsible.”
Fortunately, even the connecting flight was delayed by 30 minutes.
