Riyadh: Culture and Information Minister Adel Al-Toraifi, who is also chairman of the board of directors of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), inaugurated the new electronic site and logo of the news agency at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering, SPA President Abdullah Al-Hussein extended thanks to Al-Toraifi for honoring SPA by inaugurating its new website (www.spa.gov. sa) and logo.
“The launch marks a new chapter in the agency's achievements in the field of media and communications,” he said. “The news agency’s endeavor is to stay vigilant in practicing its job with all available media tools.”
Al-Hussein cast light on the significance of SPA's new logo, which embodies the national culture and heritage. “It reflects team spirit.”
He said the new electronic site will be a convenient and effective window for news dealings as its design matches the diversified smart devices and telephones, in addition to its flexible design and distributed colors which reflect SPA's new identity.
The agency's new website allows easy access to its multinational visitors.
Shedding light on the classifications of the website, Al-Hussein said they were chosen to provide users with quick access to the required information.
“The photos were coordinated according to internationally recognized standards,” he said. “The website contains all of SPA’s services, in addition to the main bulletin.”
He explained that SPA's new website presents its news in six languages: Arabic, English, French, Persian, Russian and Chinese.
“SPA's job is to transmit its coverage of events in a suitable language,” he said.
The website has been directly linked with social media sites to facilitate widespread news and photos. “SPA will continue to update its website at regular intervals,” he added.
