JEDDAH: Jordan, Sudan and Turkey are eyeing job vacancies in Gulf states created by the expulsion of Lebanese sympathetic to Hezbollah.

Labor ministries in the three countries have announced the availability of employment opportunities in the Gulf states, particularly in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Bahrain.

The Jordanian Labor Ministry said on its website that a return of employment opportunities in the Gulf states can be seen after such opportunities had dropped during the last two years, a local publication reported.

The available jobs varied from engineering, to informatics, road planning, quantity surveying and others.

The Saudi Ministry of Health also announced the availability of lab technician jobs for Jordanians of both sexes. A source at the Jordanian Ministry of Labor told the newspaper that the new employment opportunities are the result of the brotherly relations between the two countries. He said that the Qatari Ministry of Labor has also sought specialists in the engineering and electronic fields as well as in accounting.

“The number of health jobs, including technicians, nurses and doctors, top the list of employment opportunities,” said the source. The source also said that during the last two years, Gulf demand for Jordanian labor was “average”.

Meanwhile, Sudan and Turkey announced during the last two days the availability of employment opportunities in Sharjah and Saudi Arabia in the health, academia, accountancy and sales.
