The Health Ministry has announced that it has finished linking 585 hospitals with a unified electronic birth registration system all over the Kingdom. They include 204 government and 381 private hospitals.

“The system covers almost all hospitals in the Kingdom and it will be linked later in the final phase with the national data center and the Ministry of Interior’s naturalization services section, so these two departments electronically receive citizen and expatriate birth reports,” the ministry said.

According to this system, all hospitals licensed by the ministry to provide maternity services will be able to register all birth cases in their facilities through the system. Also, they will be able to register births from outside the hospitals provided that these cases are documented by medical reports.

The ministry said the system, part of the government shift from a manual birth registration system to e-government, has many benefits.
