DAMMAM: The Jubail-based Club of Urdu Lovers (Gosha-e-Adab) celebrated the book launch event of “Boond Samandar,” a poetic collection in Urdu of poet Aslam Badr, and hosted a poetry session recently.

The event was attended by Urdu lovers and social and educational personalities. Mukarram Ali Khan of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) was the chief guest. Dr. Naeem Hamid Ali Al-Hamid from Jeddah, Dr. Wajahat Farooqi, Syed Iqbal Talib and Sajjad Syed were the guests of honor.

Al-Hamid presented a memento to Aslam Badr. Faiyaz Ahmed of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) presented an article on Aslam Badr.

Well-known Urdu critic and poet Equbal Wajid opened the event. In his article, Wajid said that Aslam Badr’s poetry reveals the mystery of universe that brings us closer to reality of life. “Badr has gone deep into the intuition of human nature that causes deep concern of life and carries it forward to the modern scenario of life,” said Wajid.

A number of poets from Dammam, Alkhobar and Jubail presented their poems. They included Syed Iqbal Talib, Equbal Wajid, Mohammad Saquib Jaunpuri, Ayub Sabir, Syed Baqar Naqvi, Zeyaur Rehman Siddiqi, Abu Shariq, Sajjad Syed, Saeed Ashar and Abdus Saleem.
