The Jeddah municipality has urged citizens and residents to report any violations they find in their areas by filing a complaint on the municipality’s website or sending a text message on 940.

Hassan Ghoneim of the municipality said that the civic body removed vehicles illegally parked on 50,000 square meters of land in Waziria, located in the Jamia district, on Tuesday.

He said the action was taken on the complaints of a number of residents in the neighborhood, who also coordinated with municipal police to support and observe security during the process.

The land was used to randomly park heavy machinery, trucks and cars without regular licenses.

He said such kinds of illegal encroachment will not be allowed and the municipality will continue efforts to protect government land and neighborhoods from violations.

He explained that cars, trucks and heavy equipment have been completely removed from the area under the direction of and with the help of the Jeddah police.

The municipality also fined all trucks and heavy machines that were removed from the site.

The municipality announced earlier that they found that over 1.5 million square meters of government land had been illegally taken over in the city and that plans are under way to ensure that over 1 million square meters is taken back with the assistance of the police in this part of the city.
