JEDDAH: The Ministry of Labor has warned that it would prosecute corrupt individuals without fear or favor, including the minister and top officials if they are accused of wrongdoing.

Sources at the ministry said corruption cases would also be referred to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha), or the royal court directly, with whistleblowers and complainants provided complete protection and anonymity if required, a local publication reported.

One source, who preferred anonymity, said the purpose of the new portal created by the ministry, Tabneeh, would allow members of the public to submit reports about financial or administrative corruption.

Corrupt acts include interfering on a personal level in the hiring of people, carrying out work for selfish motives, blackmail or threatening someone to do something illegal, accepting bribes, and misusing public funds.

Sources said the ministry has prioritized the fight against corruption to ensure an ethical work environment; and that all complainants have the right to remain anonymous.

The ministry has allowed for reporting from employees of the ministry, individuals who do not mind being named, and those who do not want to disclose their identities.
