The King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue (KACND) has launched the third phase of the 10th National Dialogue in Hail.

The focus this time is on extremism and its impact on the national unity.

The center organized four preparatory meetings in Hail, Qassim, the Eastern Province and Riyadh. With this the center has held meetings in all the 13 provinces.

KACND Secretary General Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar said the third phase would be the last phase of the 10 national meetings. The center has successfully held preparatory meetings all over the country that included participation of various intellectual groups.

The aim, he said, was to become familiar with the community’s vision concerning the issue and how it affects national unity, in addition to providing a sound opinion about the issue of extremism, its transformations and new manifestations.

He stressed that the first and second phases of the national dialogue had achieved promising results and shown various sides of the problem of extremism, its reasons and ways for dealing with it.

Participants presented a number of possible ways to deal with extremism.

The center is making great efforts to build a clear national vision about extremism which is being discussed by social and cultural entities in the Kingdom. He said these meetings reflected comprehensiveness between intellectual, official and private establishments as well as the necessity to stand up to extremism.

The center completed the first two phases of the 10th National Dialogue after organizing nine meetings, and nine seminars and discussions in literary clubs and universities.

These were attended by more than 1,200 scholars, intellectuals, journalists, university professors and others from all sections of society who are interested in the issue.
