DAMMAM: Dunes International School was the venue for a two-day interschool exhibition on Saudi Arabia held by the Ministry of Education.

The event, described as the first of its kind in the Eastern Province, was held on Oct. 27-28. Seventeen international schools presented their models themed “Loyalty to our homeland Saudi Arabia.”

Formally inaugurating the exhibition on the opening day were Sara Al-Essa, head of the ministry’s national and international department, and Haifa Al-Afaalik, vice president of private schools.

Ministry officials, including Ilham Jaffery and Sahar Muqadam, and supervisors of the foreign education department, graced the ceremony along with the principals of all participating schools.

Jaffery thanked Dunes International School for being the host to 17 participating schools. The event started with the cultural presentation of the Kingdom by the girls of Dunes.

Saudi Arabia at a glance was exhibited by Dunes International School. “The model stole the show with its eye-catching exhibits representing the past, present and future of the Kingdom in a nutshell,” said Amjad Khan, the school’s director.

The ministry officials along with the principals of the international schools affirmed commitment to strengthen ties among themselves in the field of education, and promote nationalism and patriotism toward the country through more events of this kind.

The ministry officials applauded Dunes for its skillful, well-planned and organized venue, and support services rendered to all the guests and participants.

The success of the exhibition was credited to Principal Lamia Al-Sager, Dunes Headmistress Sumyya Arif and all the supporting Dunes staff.

For the first time, it was stated, Dunes and 16 other international schools belonging to different cultures took part in the Saudi National day exhibition and the children presented themselves wearing traditional dresses. They wore Saudi shumagh and gave historical information in English.

The foreign education supervisor thanked all the schools for taking part in the exhibition.
