RIYADH: The Civil Defense revealed recently that 70 percent of fire accidents in the Kingdom's cities occur due to electrical issues.

The Civil Defense therefore stressed the role of modern fire detectors in combating fires before they become aggravated, particularly those devices capable of analyzing air molecules for early detection.

Additionally, the Civil Defense noted that incidents of child drownings in swimming pools rank as the second most dangerous type of accident that occurs in the Kingdom, while gas leaks come in the third place.

The Civil Defense gave this information to the local media during a symposium on safe action during emergencies on the occasion of the World Day for Civil Defense. The symposium took place under the slogan “Media and Prevention.”

Hosted by Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) to familiarize its employees with the prevention measures against hazards and accidents, the symposium focussed on the safety procedures applicable in many different kinds of emergency situations, and shed the light on the multiple tasks of the Civil Defense and its role in raising the awareness of the public about the risks and hazards in everyday life.

The Civil Defense team also gave a presentation on the correct methods of using security tools, evacuation routes, following the instructions issued by the competent authorities during rainy seasons, and the other emergency situation factors.

With the cooperation of the Civil Defense, the ADA recently conducted specialized studies to provide the highest standards of safety and security measures at the King Abdul Aziz Project for Public Transportation in Riyadh.
