DAMMAM: Aligarh Muslim University alumni of Alkhobar and Dammam celebrated the annual Sir Syed Day recently.

Guest of honors and senior Aligarians shared the vision of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan on empowerment of Muslims through education.

Cultural activities were part of the event, which concluded with AMU tarana, written by Urdu poet Asrarul Haq Majaz.

Tanveer Jeelani and Imdad Khan anchored the program, which was attended by a large number of AMU alumni.

Among those present were Mohammed Ajmal Khan, head, library affairs, Dammam University; Khaled Mahmood, head, information, learning and research, Dammam University; Zafar Siddiqui, professor, NITI, Al-Hasa; Dr. Mohammad Nahid Siddiqui, assistant professor, Chemistry Department, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals; and Nadeem Ahmed, head of operations, eXtra chain of electronics stores.

The event was organized by Furquan Mohammed, DGM, SJ Group; Shakil Ahmed, Iqabal Sami, Fasiuddin, Firoz, Zafar, Sharfuddin and Faizi.
