JUBAIL: Al-Kifah Holding Co. has signed an agreement to establish a Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Lab) in collaboration with the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY), supervised by National Talents Co.

The agreement was signed by Khaled Al-Shammari, director of the RCJ’s Social Services Department, Suleiman Hassan Al-Afaleq, chairman of Social Responsibility Committee at Al Kifah Holding Co., and Saeed Atef Saeed, CEO of National Talents Co.

A fabrication laboratory is a creative space where innovators are provided with resources to create, design and produce their ideas. The first Fab Lab was introduced in 2001, and there are 600 Fab Labs across the world now.

The lab will organize knowledge-oriented workshops at the Knowledge and Innovation Center in Jubail, where young designers and students can visit to create, design and produce their dream ideas. Fab Lab has all resources and tools required by innovators and designers to implement the primary ideas and models for innovations.

Al-Shammari said that the lab will help a large number of interested students, engineers, programmers and designers in the field of creativity and innovation through transforming their ideas and creations to be investment projects in the future.

He said that the Fab Lab will contribute significantly to scientific research in various areas, as the agreement targets about 4,000 young men and women per year through 400 training workshops.
