Alaa bin Abdullah Nassif, executive chief of the Royal Commission at Yanbu, has inaugurated the first phase of the rainwater drainage project along the King Khaled Street in Yanbu Industrial City.

The length of the first phase of the project is 6.6 km, where almost 19,800 sq. meters of water will be discharged and 82,000 sq. meters will be used for agriculture.

Mohamed Hussein Shaeria, head of planning and studies department of the project, said that the scheme will not only provide water for agriculture use but also facilitate cleaning and a regular maintenance of drainage channels in the city during the rainy season.

Shaeria said that the project will also contribute toward a clean and healthy environment to the residents of the industrial city of Yanbu.

He said the first phase of the project, which was launched in June 2013, was implemented in 22 months.

Nassif said that the newly launched tree-trimming machine provided by the Royal Commission in Yanbu will help raise the quality of work in various business locations in the city.
