A 10-member delegation from the Foreign Ministry left to attend a diplomatic course at the Institute of Diplomatic Studies in Buenos Aires.

“The delegation, headed by Prof. Ali Ali, will study the general history and foreign policy of Argentina at the Institute of Diplomatic Studies in Buenos Aires,” Argentinian Ambassador Jaime Sergio Cerda told Arab News.

He said the visit was in accordance with a bilateral diplomatic cooperation agreement signed last year between the institute and the Academy of Diplomacy in Riyadh.

The delegation will study the positions of Argentina and Saudi Arabia in world organizations like the United Nations and the G-20 countries, as well as Latin American foreign policy.

Cerda expressed hope that the Saudi diplomats’ visit will further strengthen the excellent tie between his country and Saudi Arabia.

Stressing the good bilateral relations between the two countries, Cerda said that Saudi delegations have visited the Latin American country and vice versa.

He said that a Shoura Council delegation was in Argentina on a good will visit from March 3 to 6 this year, and it is currently in Brazil where they are holding bilateral talks.

Cerda added that Argentinian Foreign Minister Hector Timerman headed a delegation to Saudi Arabia and attended the Fifth Joint Economic Meeting last month.

He said that his country is now preparing for the fourth summit to be held in the Kingdom toward the end of this year. Twelve heads of state from South America and 24 from Arab countries are expected to attend.
