Saudi Arabia's gifted youth will be participating in three international scientific competitions in May to add a new scientific achievement record.

The country’s team recently received a bronze medal at the Mathematics Olympiad for girl students in the State of Belarus and achieved two gold medals and four silvers in the Gulf Mathematics Olympiad, which was held in Kuwait last March.

The Kingdom will be taking part in the Balkan Mathematics Olympiads, and Mendeleyev Chemistry Olympiad and Asian Physics Olympiad, represented by the Ministry of Education and King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, or Mawhiba, to compete for three awards competitions with a number of advanced countries in the world.

This was stated by Abdulrahman Alquwaizani, head of the Saudi International Olympiads. He said: "Our participation aims to maintain our scientific achievements, present a positive image of Saudi Arabia and feature the country’s evolution in various scientific fields."

According to him, the first participation begins Sunday for one week in the Mendeleyev Chemistry Olympiads (Mcho) in Armenia with four students representing the country.

He said, this is for the third consecutive time that the Kingdom is taking part. In 2013, eight students took part while five students participated in 2014.

This is part of the preparatory program for the Saudi team to participate in the 2015 International Olympiad to be held in Azerbaijan in July.

He added that the second participation of the Kingdom will be in the Asian Physics Olympiad APhO 2015, which starts today and will continue through Sunday in China, with the participation of 30 countries.

He continued: "This is the fourth Saudi team participation in APhO while our first participation was in 2012." The third participation will be in the Balkans Mathematics Olympiads in Greece with six students representing KSA.
