HAIL: “This is given with God’s generosity; whoever cannot afford food can take this gift freely.” This expression is written across the door of a restaurant in Hail in a concerted effort to help the needy.

Since opening its doors to the hungry two months ago, the restaurant has given 150 meals to needy people for free every single day, local media reported.

This initiative has earned the praise and respect of all who frequent the restaurant, which specializes in Damascene food.

The restaurant’s manager, Ghassan Alla Aladin, said that he is running this program to please God and to enable him to play a greater role in social responsibility.

He said that he began to offer this service two months ago, with three meals per day being delivered to 30 poor families of Saudi, Syrian and Yemeni nationalities across a number of neighborhoods in the city.

Aladin said that every order is determined according to the members of each family, so as to engage the needy properly.

Such recipients of the food are also welcome to sit in the restaurant for free if they cannot pay, further reinforcing the warmth and hospitality of the establishment. Aladin said that the restaurant is rented weekly and has 21 workers, with five percent of the restaurant’s income being given to a charitable society to support the needy each month.
