A 45-year-old Indonesian maid has been lying in hospital with a kidney failure for one-and-a-half years and awaiting repatriation to her country.

Lestila Wati was admitted to the Khamis Mushayt Civil Hospital by her sponsor after he learned about her condition. The woman has reportedly not been been paid her dues.

The hospital management has communicated with relevant authorities to help solve her problems.

Media spokesman for Asir health, Said Al-Nqair, said that the social service department at the hospital looks after such cases and that it has already made efforts to end the sufferings of the maid in cooperation with the competent authorities.

He pointed out the role of the work office in Abha, where he sent members of the Committee to meet the maid and listen to her lawsuit.

Al-Nqair said that the social service department had previously followed a similar case with a domestic worker from Sri Lanka who had met with an accident in 1433 AH with a Saudi family and everyone in the car died.
