JEDDAH: Due to their ignorance of the system of annual evaluation, a number of government employees are deprived of their allowances and promotions, according to an online newspaper.

Quoting an informed source in the Ministry of Civil Service, the newspaper said that some officials of various directorates or main branches have amended performance evaluation of some employees due to some reasons.

It said that some officials of some sectors were still not following rules and regulations of work. This is the main reason behind negativism in the administrative structure.

This is resulting in no progress or no promotion despite their regular work during office hours. However, the source did not reveal the number of employees who were deprived of allowances or promotions.

Some of the employees could not get promotions because their bosses did not give an evaluation report, which could support in the process due to some reason. Some of the heads did not give correct evaluation. Employees must know the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Civil Service and know their rights if they feel there were violations. It is the right of employees to know their evaluation report. The report is normally ignored by employees or some officials do not tell them in some cases, said the source.

Changes in the evaluation reports are possible if the officials state reason behind them. The Ministry of Civil Service rule says that the official who has not completed six years of service cannot prepare evaluation reports of the employees of his department.
