A police man was injured during an operation by security forces to arrest an infiltrator. Al-Jouf district police arrested the armed man who attempted to illegally enter the Jordanian territories through the Saudi borders.

Before the arrest, the policemen exchanged fire with the man, leaving one security man lightly injured and the infiltrator wounded with gunshots in both the legs.

Col. Turki bin Abdulrahman Al-Mowaishir, spokesman for the Al-Jouf Police, told Arab News that the Qurayyat police station received a notification from the border guards office in Al-Jouf about the infiltration attempt, at 10 p.m. last Wednesday.

The report stated that a man was spotted trying to enter the Jordanian border in a Toyota Pickup car and fled when the border guards tried to stop him showing vigorous attempts to resist. The security forced responded to the situation as per requirements. The infiltrator who was hurt and ultimately arrested was later transferred to the hospital to receive treatment. His case is reported to be stable.

He was referred to the relevant authorities to complete the legal procedures against him.
