Finding space for parking vehicles is a big problem in Jubail, and residents blame business establishments for cornering open areas for their clients.

The residents have appealed to the Jubail Municipality to find a solution and provide new public parking lots.

Seeking to solve the problem, the Eastern Province Municipality pledged to apply rules for shops that allocate public sites for their customers’ vehicles.

Mohammad Al-Sufaian, spokesman for the municipality, said, “Public parking lots are allocated to serve all residents, especially in commercial areas. The allocation of these sites for clients is against the norms.”

He said that it is not allowed to use sidewalks for keeping things like paintings and blocking space for pedestrians. The same will invite penalties, he said.

“The body authorized to monitor the implementation of these regulations is Jubail Municipality, except areas that are identified in the center of Dammam and Alkhobar, which is managed by a private company,” Al-Sufaian added.
