RIYADH: The United States has announced a reward of $5 million to those who provide information which would lead to the arrest of naturalized Saudi Tarrad Mohammad Al-Garba.

Maj. Gen. Mansoor Al-Turki, spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, told a website that the wanted man was a Saudi by naturalization. He is wanted by Saudi security agencies for illegally leaving the country and joining the Daesh terrorist organization.

Al-Turki said: "This is part of the Kingdom's effort in cooperating with the international community in fighting against the phenomenon of terrorism. In the past, the Kingdom has shared information with various countries about the activities of wanted people."

According to the US State Department, Al-Garba, 36, also known as “Abu Mohammad Al-Shimali” is entrusted with the task of smuggling foreign fighters to Syria. He is also a former member of Al-Qaeda.

The man is a Daesh official who lives in Jarabulus city in north Syria near the Turkish border, according to the State Department.

Earlier, Daesh's social media accounts covered the marriage of “Abu Mohammad Al-Shimali” with Reema Al-Jareesh, who is also wanted in Saudi Arabia since June 2015, a year after she joined Daesh in Syria along with her sons. Al-Jareesh is the third wife of Al-Shimali, according to the accounts of Daesh supporters.

According to information available on Al Arabiya website, Al-Garba was a former prisoner and was detained by security authorities. According to one of his posts on Facebook, he mourned one of his co-prisoners, “Abu Maaz Al-Sayeed,” or “companion in prison,” as he described him, after he was killed in Syria during Ramadan 2013.

Abu Maaz Al-Sayeed participated in the war in Afghanistan with "Al-Shimali." Both joined Daesh after leaving Jabhat Al-Nusrah, a branch of Al-Qaeda in Syria, according to Al-Sayeed's Facebook page.

On Sept. 29, Washington announced the names of 15 people, who were working for Daesh, as part of its black list. Among them were two Saudis— Tarrad Al-Garba and Nasser Mohammad Awwad Al-Ghaidani Al-Harbi.
