Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil heard on Tuesday the Malaysian Higher Education Minister Zieni Jang giving a detailed presentation on the importance of educational integration.

Malaysia has a successful experience in integrating the Ministries of General Education and Higher Education into one unit, Al-Dakhil was told.

The steps and results of this experiment that was launched in 2013, and its effects on the performance of the educational establishments in the public sector and higher education, Jang is said to have communicated to the Saudi minister.

The Malaysian experiment of integration, Jang said, had united the vision and comprehensiveness of the education realm in his country.

Meanwhile, the executive committee of the electronic education project held a meeting recently to discuss the streaming of efforts between the Higher Education Ministry and the Education Ministry in the development and launch of initiatives related to digital content and electronic services to students, teachers and parents.

This first meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdullah Al-Muqrin, director-general of the National Center for Electronic Education and Long-distance Learning.

A plan has been drawn up to identify the outputs intended, as well as to nominate the different roles involved in preparation for the programs launch one year from now.

Executive-Director of the Educational Services Development Company, Dr. Mohammad Al-Zighebi, also participated in the meeting, while Dr. Khaled Al-Hazimi of the Electronic Services and Solutions Department spoke about the most prominent products in electronic education.

Additionally, Ministry of Education Curriculum Director Mohamed Al-Bishi presented a draft selection of accompanying materials, and concluded the meeting by speaking about an interactive e-book project for the general education curriculum, which was presented by Yosef Al-Showiman.
