JEDDAH: The Memon Welfare Society (MWS) felicitated meritorious students from the community at its fourth annual awards distribution ceremony here recently.

Abdullah Yousuf was the first to come and take his prize for securing top position in Grade 8 at the American International School Jeddah. He was presented an appreciation certificate signed by the US President.

The other students who were honored were Kiran Yousuf and Bisma Munaf A. Ghaffar for completing the MBBS course from Betterjee Medical College, Jeddah; Manal Nasir Ibrahim for clearing the ‘A Level’ Cambridge International Exam with 98 percent marks; and Moiz Hanif for completing mechanical engineering from West Virginia University, US.

The function started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Abdullah Abdul Rahman Khimanim, followed by famous poet Dr. Iqbal’s poem, ‘DUA’, which was recited by Anzalna Jawed Ashraf.

Author and economist Mohammed Umar Chapra was the chief guest at the function.

Tayyab Moosani, MWS secretary-general, welcomed the guests and briefed them about the activities of the society.

Chapra hailed the MWS for its welfare services. Congratulating the meritorious students, he advised other students to work hard in their studies and stand out.

Chapra and Ahmed Abdul Karim, the guest of honor, distributed the awards to the students.
