RIYADH: The Labor Ministry has said that the special investigation unit in the Ministry of the Interior arrested an employee in his office just as he was receiving a bribe for "services rendered." The employee has since been sent to the Board of Investigation and Prosecution for further scrutiny and for a final ruling to be handed down. The ministry said that it rejects such acts that are against Saudi morals, values and principles, and which are also against Islam. Such actions involve justice and the principle of rights which is guarded by legislation in the Kingdom so as to uphold fairness and nondiscrimination.

The Labour Ministry added that the act conducted by the employee is a shameful one and does not represent the ministry's ethos. Rather, it contradicts the security of the individual's employment status, as each employee has serious obligations to fulfill to all citizens and residents. The ministry called on all of its officers along with members of society to report any violations witnessed inside the ministry regarding poor performance, bribery and other issues directly to the authorities through their email contact information available online.
